**About Sanguen Health Centre**

Sanguen Health Centre exists to improve individual and community well-being by providing health and social care for people who face barriers to accessing traditional supports. This includes people living with HCV, people who use drugs, those experiencing homelessness and equity deserving communities.

Our mission is to meet the needs of those in Waterloo Region and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph living with or at risk of Hepatitis C through the provision of education, outreach, support, and comprehensive, expert medical care.

**About WINS**

The WINS project (Working to Improve Neighbourhood Safety) is a new initiative focused on improving community safety by reducing the number of improperly discarded drug use supplies.

**Accountabilities**

Accountabilities of the WINS Peer Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

- In conjunction with the Manager of Outreach, recruit, train, schedule, and supervise peer outreach workers to assist with community activities.
- Maintain accurate statistics and activity reports. Complete program evaluations and related reports as required.
- Assist with needle/syringe retrieval and disposal in community settings.
- Participate on committees and working groups as appropriate.
- Working hours will include a combination of days and evenings. Weekend work may occasionally be required.

**Qualifications**
- Strong knowledge of applied harm reduction concepts and practices, particularly as relevant to people who use drugs. Personal or lived experience is an asset.
- Experience with crisis de-escalation and conflict resolution.
- Committed to maintaining excellent personal and professional boundaries while providing accepting, non-judgmental service and support.
- Knowledge of the Social Determinants of Health and their impact on people who use drugs.
- Knowledge of relevant and local social, health, and treatment services available to people who use drugs.
- Valid driver’s license, access to own vehicle, and insurance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Services are provided in a variety of locations outside of Sanguen’s office including many that may not be easily physically accessible (i.e., no ramp/elevator, rough terrain).

**Hours and Location of Work**

Working hours will be 40 hours per week, primarily daytime hours, with the possibility of occasional weekend and evening hours as demanded by the nature of the work.

The primary locations of work are: 150 Main (Cambridge), 150 Duke St W (Kitchener - CTS), and 29 Young St E (Waterloo - Main office).

**Compensation and Other Perks**
- This is a salaried position of $55,000 annually
- 4 weeks’ vacation which accrues biweekly
- A comprehensive Employee Benefits package upon successful completion of the probationary period
- 15 paid sick days per calendar year
