Pearson's Higher Education division is currently recruiting for a **Content Manager**. This is a limited term position.

As Content Manager you will oversee all matters related to content planning and content development for program execution within their assigned project(s) and platform workflow(s). You will work with the Product Manager and the project team to create Project Plans (print and/or digital), implement and oversee the execution of these plans, including the selection of resources, which can include selecting and hiring freelance content developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other contributors creating Work for Hire agreements for ancillary components across our platforms.

Your project responsibility spans all components and program scope as it relates to development and quality, including the implementation of DEI and Indigenous content remediation, as well as ensuring timely manuscript delivery of the program. The Content Manager is the primary point of contact for authors and SMEs throughout the content development phase.

You will work closely with the Content Production team to ensure the success of the program by identifying and mitigating risk, identifying project dependencies, and providing ongoing communication via proactive involvement in all planning and update meetings. You are the end-to-end leader and go-to person from planning to manuscript delivery.

As Content Manager, you are an experienced and trusted resource across teams. You provide informed and enthusiastic guidance on the development and execution of the project strategy for their assigned projects, founded on experience working with Pearson tools and systems. Your work and demeanour are characterized by enthusiasm, reliability, open communication, diplomacy, and critical thinking skills.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Planning and scheduling of content plans and/or media plans**:

- Collaborate with Product Manager and Content Producer to create Content Plans and establish workflows, with particular attention to content requirements and execution.
- Establish coordinated high-level content development schedules and development plans for full program components including media plans.
- Clarify required deliverables for each program component and ensure final content is delivered to acceptable standards.
- Analyze and plan permissions requirements. Ensure that permissions requirements are communicated and upheld.

**Manage Content Development of assigned titles**:

- Manage the development of the Content Plan, in collaboration with the product team, that reflects the strategic goals of the Program and supports the Program Scope as presented in the Business Case and Planning Process. This may involve the hiring and management of Freelance Content Developers.
- Analyze feedback obtained via Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion content reviews of products and work with authors and SMEs to ensure successful implementation of the feedback throughout the development process. This may include escalating issues to other stakeholders within the product team for further remediation.
- Analyze peer review feedback of products obtained prior to signing and/or during development and prepare documents summarizing the analysis and providing guidance for authors and SMEs in the implementation of the feedback.
- Prepare start-up materials for authors including detailed documentation summarizing the content plan. This will include incorporating manuscript preparaton requirements with feedback from the Content Producetr for print and digital outputs. This work may involve the analysis of previous edition files and documentation including project plans and permission logs.
- Obtain and review content from authors and SMEs throughout the development process, and ensure they are provided detailed feedback on adherence to the content plan and other project parameters.
- In close collaboration with the Content Producer and, if applicable, Freelance Content Developer, prepare content for transmittal from the writing stage to the production stage and ensure projects comply with acceptance criteria and workflow guidelines, including tools and templates appropriate to the particular platform for which content is developed.
- Assist in training and supporting external content writers/SMEs in pedagogy and other areas related to content development.

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Completion of a university or college degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years job experience, preferably Content Development (Developmental Editorial).
- Functional knowledge of digital workflows and tools is required.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Proficiency with PC & MAC including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, scheduling programs such as SmartSheet, and digital project QA tools is preferred.
