**Manager of Indigenous Philanthropy Program**

**The Role**: is a **three-year term** role with the potential to become a full-term permanent role.

This position will serve as the lead developer for The Winnipeg Foundation’s _Indigenous Philanthropy Program_ - a strategic priority supporting the intentional engagement of Indigenous communities in Manitoba’s community foundation network. As the Manager of the _Indigenous Philanthropy Program_, you are crucial to creating and expanding the program while building and maintaining trust-based relationships with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and program partners.

A primary goal of the program includes the establishment of Indigenous-owned and led community foundations. A secondary goal of the program is supporting greater awareness of Indigenous communities’ priorities across Manitoba’s community foundation network, leading to improved understanding, stronger relationships, and increased partnerships and collaborations.

Moreover, the position entails continuous oversight and administration of the _Indigenous Philanthropy Program_, with the authority to propose any necessary changes for review by the VP of Capacity Building & Programs.

**Areas of Responsibility**
- Indigenous Philanthropy_
- Supporting, developing, and growing relationships with Indigenous leaders and community members, and working with partners within and outside the Capacity Building & Programs Department to develop and grow Indigenous community relationships that are authentic, trust-based, purposeful, and focused on each community’s interests and priorities.
- Developing knowledge and understanding, recommending activities, sustainable funding models, and strategies, and engaging Indigenous communities to achieve the program's primary goal.
- Providing awareness and guidance to Manitoba’s community foundation network on Indigenous cultural protocols, norms, politics, and priorities to ensure that the organizations respectfully engage with Indigenous communities to achieve the secondary goal of the program.
- Resource Management_
- Developing and maintaining a program budget in collaboration with the VP of Capacity Building & Programs.
- Engaging resources from both within The Winnipeg Foundation and outside (consultants and researchers) to further the program's goals.
- General Program Administration_
- Conducting data collection and analysis, including developing and deploying survey tools, and writing interim and year-end program reports.
- Coordinating promotional and marketing activities related to the program and liaising with the Marketing & Communications Department, as required.
- Coordinating fund administration activities related to the program and liaising with the Finance Department, as required.
- Coordinating grant-making activities related to the program and liaising with the Community Impact Department, as required.

**About You**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous studies, business, management, community development, or related area, and/or earned equivalent through 5-10+ years' experience in an Indigenous-focused program development or management role with significant relationship-building responsibilities,
- A demonstrated history of building successful relationships with Indigenous communities and experience supporting the successful implementation of programs/projects with Indigenous groups,
-  Experienced and skilled in managing projects and program design, including the development of logical frames, results frameworks, and budgeting,
- Aptitude for fostering positive, supportive, and mutually beneficial relationships,
- Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and passion for supporting Reconciliation,
- A practical understanding of Indigenous community development priorities and approaches to partnerships and programs that support these priorities,
- Demonstrated understanding of the various Indigenous political systems in Manitoba,
- Understanding of budgeting and basic financial stewardship,
- Motivated self-starter and ability to work independently,
- Understanding of the importance of community-led development,
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset, such as Cree, Inuktitut, Ojibway, Anishinaabemowin, Dakota, Dene, Mich
