The Town of View Royal is a growing residential community in the Greater Victoria area with a population of approximately 11,575. Ten minutes from downtown Victoria, View Royal’s central location also provides good highway access to the Western Communities and to the Saanich Peninsula, including BC Ferries and the Victoria International Airport.
**Parks Worker - Student**:
**2 Seasonal Full-Time Positions**
**$21.85/hr plus 10% in lieu of benefits**
**16-week term (negotiable): May 2 to September 1, 2023**
**Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM**

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, under the close supervision of the Parks Supervisor, the Parks Worker - Student performs duties related to the maintenance of municipal parks including preparing and maintaining gardens, playing fields, trees, and grassy areas. Tasks include removing weeds and debris; installing or removing turf, soil & top dressing; picking up and disposing of refuse; assisting with the installation of irrigation systems; painting; and benches. This position is also may be required to operate and maintain a variety of equipment and various hand and power tools.

In addition, the following qualifications are required:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Preference will be given for those enrolled in a parks-related field, such as Resource Management, Horticulture, Turf Science, Arboriculture, Environmental studies, Outdoor Recreation, _etc_., at a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
