Kepler Academy Inc. is currently looking for a Maintenance & Fleet Coordinator to join our dynamic team In this position you would provide maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of all our centres and external grounds in the various areas of Edmonton and surrounding areas. You would also oversee the fleet ensuring the safe & efficient operation of vehicles.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent. Salary is from $55,000 to $60,000.00 per annum
Key Responsibilities

**Perform maintenance and repairs in the areas of**:
**Maintenance Handy Man**: (Read Seal Not Required)
- Plumbing duties including swapping fixtures, snaking clogs, and fixing leaks
- Carpenter/finisher work including installing trims or moldings and replacing/installing locksets
- Electrical tasks such as replacing bulbs and swapping fixtures
- Assembling furniture and mounting furniture
- Painting and basic drywall work and repair
- Basic upkeep of centres’ outdoor play space
- Perform maintenance for seasonal, annual, and semi-annual requirements according to maintenance schedules and activities
- Operate a variety of standard power tools and equipment
- Arrange for annual fire equipment service and ensure all safety devices (smoke alarms, door closures) are in good working condition
- Coordinating with third party services including managing contractor warranty tasks and appliance warranties
- Coordinate completion of work maintenance and/or equipment repairs as needed, with contractors, in a timely and professional manner
- Follow up on service requests to ensure proper completion

**Fleet**:1. Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance Oversight**:

- Schedule and oversee regular inspections of all fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe and in good operating condition.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff or external service providers to promptly address any issues or repairs needed.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and ensure they comply with regulatory requirements.

**3. Safety Training and Procedures**:

- Implement and review safety protocols and procedures for drivers.
- Provide training to drivers on safe driving practices, vehicle operation, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular safety meetings or briefings to reinforce safety policies and address any concerns.

**5. Regulatory Compliance**:

- Stay updated on relevant regulations and laws governing fleet operations, including fitness safety standards and operating authority requirements.
- Ensure that all vehicles in the fleet meet regulatory standards for safety and operational fitness.
- Obtain and maintain necessary operating authority, permits, and licenses for fleet operations.

**7. Risk Management**:

- Identify potential risks or hazards associated with fleet operations and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Investigate accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain records of accidents, incidents, and near misses for analysis and improvement purposes.

**9. Fleet Optimization**:

- Monitor fleet utilization and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
- Evaluate vehicle specifications and make recommendations for fleet upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency and safety.
- Implement technologies or systems to track vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and driver behavior.

**11. Communication and Coordination**:

- Liaise with Director of Operations and Centre Directors within the organization to ensure alignment of fleet
- Communicate effectively with drivers, and management to address concerns, provide guidance, and facilitate smooth operations.
- Collaborate with external partners, such as suppliers or regulatory agencies, as necessary to support fleet operations.

**13. Emergency Response Planning**:

- Develop contingency plans for responding to emergencies or disruptions that may affect fleet operations, such as severe weather events or infrastructure failures.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities or emergency services to ensure a prompt and effective response in the event of an emergency involving fleet vehicles.

These duties require a combination of administrative, technical, and managerial skills to effectively oversee fleet operations while prioritizing safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Skills and Experience
Strong general and technical knowledge and experience in all areas of maintenance and repair including trades skills.
Be a self-starter able to set up a full maintenance program for numerous centres and ensure quality repairs are completed.
Ability to negotiate with and manage contractors hired for larger projects and tasks.
Strong computer skills, and a good general understanding of Microsoft Office.
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
Able to perform work inside and outside in all seasons.
Strong communication and customer service skills, collaborative and approachable.
