**NSE Category Manager**

North Sun Energy is looking for an adaptable, highly motivated professional to join our growing organization as Category Manager. The Category Manager reports to the Director of Food Service and Convenience and works in liaison with the other Category Managers, Territory Managers, Managers, and Franchisees. This role provides merchandising/pricing support to the retail network and manages the relationship between NSE and their vendor partners/suppliers; including the selection of new products, review existing product and planogram effectiveness, and negotiation of product promotions and specials. The position is also responsible for providing retail operators with promotional signage, merchandising standards, product placement advice, and general merchandising support. The Category Manager will be required to have excellent financial and analytical skills for data analysis and reporting, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and respect deadlines.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Vendor Management**
- Manage supplier agreements (terms, pricing, delivery, marketing, and promotions)
- Negotiate & administer rebate agreements/vendor support
- Identify & evaluate new suppliers
- Product forecasting and inventory management

**Category Management**
- Product selection
- Planogram design review and maintenance
- Pricing strategy, including competitive price shop, margin management
- Identify new opportunities to grow sales
- Food Service Program support
- Analytical skills for industry, competitor, and consumer trends
- Development of long-term strategies
- Participate in budget development and revenue
- Maximize consumer appeal through pricing, promotion, and product management
- Development of exit strategies for unsuccessful products

**Promotional Strategy**
- Develop annual promotional calendar (Merchandising Grid)
- Collaboration with the marketing team
- Bi-monthly store special program
- Assist with development and implementation of promotions at store level

**Reporting**:

- Responsible for tracking and reporting rebates earned and collected
- Promotion performance and other key performance indicators (KPI’s)
- Category and departmental sales reports

**Other**:

- Communicate with retailers to ensure implementation of merchandising promotions
- Assist Territory Managers in ensuring compliance at site level with supply agreements, planograms, signage placement, and product placement

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of an undergraduate degree or 3 year diploma in business or commerce
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of management experience in a retail environment
- Knowledge of pricing and promotional management as well as category management in a retail environment will be considered assets
- Strong working knowledge of excel
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to manage time and tasks; organizational skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
