The Staff Support Counsellor (SSC) provides confidential work-related 45 minute counselling support service to staff to help resolve work-related issues and to provide brief counselling and referrals as appropriate. This position will report to the Director of HR & IT and will work with the Cultural Staff Support Counsellor in the provision of group debriefing and wellness training.
**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
The Staff Support Counsellor will work cooperatively as a member of the HR team actively participating in and contributing to the development and delivery of effective and efficient employment specific counselling services. Participates in the development and delivery of wellness programs as needed. This position will be required to travel between the three office sites in Vancouver. Applicants must be familiar with Employment support counselling within an Indigenous agency focusing on support to vulnerable children youth and families. The Staff Support Counsellor is responsible for:
- Engage in solution-focused therapy, supporting a range of staff dealing with complex work challenges such as working through interpersonal skills, workplace challenges, stress management and work life balance.
- Support staff in taking an active role in the change process by working from a strength-based approach.
- Places immense value on self-care and creativity, and is actively engaging in own inner work.
- Provides individual, and group counselling for work related stresses and concerns.
- Works closely with the CISM Team in providing emotional support prior to and after the Debriefing process to members involved in critical incidents.
- Provide consultations related to crisis or assessed urgent situations when required.
- Develops and delivers relevant workshops for staff, as well as health and wellness publications to meet the needs of staff; issues such as interpersonal communication and stress management).
- Assist in preparing reports, evaluations, and research projects that focus on themes that arise from staff.
- Recommending employee wellness initiatives and training that build employee engagement and resilience such as cultural camp, Indigenous Core Cultural Competencies and other workshops.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field or Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master’s Degree.
- Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. Eligible for professional certification in British Columbia or Registered Social Worker with British Columbia College of Social Workers with a Master’s Degree.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in Clinical Counselling as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or RSW with a Master’s Degree.
- Experience in supervision and/or coordination and/delivery of training.
- Comfortable with public speaking and hosting meetings.
- Acts independently within established clinical and ethical guidelines.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Trained and holds clinical practices for convening safe and trauma informed meetings and collaborative practice.
- Trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (Post Traumatic Stress).
- Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience in Trauma Informed Practice.
- Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience counselling employees.
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with work situations requiring sound judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Must be able to act with a considerable degree of autonomy and independence in the provision of psychological assistance to staff while adhering to the ethical standards of the profession.
