**DESCRIPTION**

**Role**
This unionized role reports to a Director and leads the Greater Victoria Public Library’s (GVPL) Occupational Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC requirements.

The role coordinates GVPL’s business continuity planning and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and monitoring risks associated with GVPL’s operations, encompassing emergency planning and safety and security of people and facilities.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the well-being of its staff, patrons, volunteers, and service

providers and in safeguarding GVPL’s operations.

**Education and Experience**

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Equivalents may include:

- A diploma in occupational health and safety, security, law enforcement or criminal justice from an accredited post-secondary institution and five years related experience.
- A certificate in occupational health and safety, security, law enforcement or criminal justice from an accredited post-secondary institution and six years related experience.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Work experience in a unionized environment.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
- Current BC Security Guard License
- Certification of Training Completion in Advanced Security Training
