Technical Equipment Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Equipment Manager to join our dynamic team. As the Technical Equipment Manager, you will orient, guide and supervise the Team and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of lighting equipment within our organization. This role involves managing the inventory, maintenance, and deployment of lighting equipment to ensure seamless and high-quality technical support for various projects and events.
**Responsibilities**:
Equipment Management:
- Maintain an organized inventory of lighting equipment, including fixtures, control consoles, cables, and accessories.- Implement effective tracking systems to monitor the status, location, and condition of all lighting equipment.- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of new lighting equipment.
Technical Support:
- Collaborate with production teams to understand lighting requirements for different projects and events.- Provide technical expertise and guidance in the selection and setup of lighting equipment.- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to lighting equipment during rehearsals, performances, or events.
Manufacturing:
- Lead the manufacturing of new equipment as required- Budgeting, labor + materials- Manage BOMs (building of materials)
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all lighting equipment.- Oversee regular inspections, repairs, and calibration of lighting fixtures to ensure optimal performance.- Collaborate with external vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance when necessary.
Training and Documentation:
- Conduct training sessions for staff and technicians on the proper use, handling, and maintenance of lighting equipment.- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including manuals and guides, for all lighting equipment.- Keep abreast of industry advancements and share knowledge with the team to enhance technical capabilities.
Budget Management:
- Work closely with the finance department to develop and manage budgets for lighting equipment.- Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
Quality- Ensure proper QC is done on all equipment before release- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Management / Supervision- Guide, orient, and mobilize the multidisciplinary team(s)- Develop and coach the more junior members of the department.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Electrical Engineering, or any equivalent training and experience.- 10 years of proven experience in managing lighting equipment in a live event, entertainment, or production environment.- 3 to 5 years in a management position- In-depth knowledge of various lighting fixtures, control systems, and industry standards.- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.- Excellent organizational and project management skills.- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
