**Summary**:
The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for cultivating a safe and healthy work environment and culture by supporting, driving and administering all aspects of health and safety in accordance with legislation

**Responsibilities**:

- Promote a safety-first culture
- Evaluate workplace hazards, develop risk assessments, physical demands analysis and perform job hazard analysis
- Develop, revise and execute health and safety policies, procedures and programs
- Work with the HR team to provide training to all employees on safety procedures and policies
- Research health and safety issues
- Support the accident, incident and near miss investigation process and ensure the appropriate follow-up
- Conduct various internal safety audits: guarding, safety systems, ergonomics, lockouts/tag-out, confined space, emergency response, forklift safety, etc.
- Drive the workplace inspection program, report finding and follow-up to ensure corrective action is taken
- Coordinate meetings and be an active member of the Health and Safety Committee
- Perform monthly reports on safety KPIs
- Share best practices in both of our facilities with safety related matters

**Skills and Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in Occupational Safety or related field is preferred
- 2 years experience in Health and Safety role
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is ideal and hospitality environment is advantageous
- Experience in technical writing
- Superb communication skills, both verbally and written, ability to influence and build trust and rapport
- Extensive understanding and knowledge of the OHSA and other safety legislation and regulations
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
