We are looking for a **full-time contract Brief Mental Health Counsellor** to join our Dufferin Bolton Caledon Multidisciplinary team

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Brief Mental Health Counselor will provide time-limited counselling and treatment utilizing integrated therapeutic approaches to individuals presenting with mental health concerns. They will use evidence-based tools to monitor whether interventions are effectively supporting client wellness. They will provide brief service and will determine how to best support clients using a stepped care approach.

**Status**: Full-time contract until January 2026, 37.5 hours per week

**Location**: 1 Elizabeth Street, Orangeville, ON. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and community presence as per program and client needs.

**What you will do**
- Assessment of individual clinical and psychosocial needs, urgency, and acuity by using evidence-based screening tools
- Develop care plans and provide time limited interventions using integrated evidence-based approaches
- Assess and provide crisis support; connect to crisis services when appropriate
- Utilize evidence-based tools to monitor the effectiveness of the interventions
- Facilitate groups as part of CMHA PD’s multidisciplinary team, including the creation of new groups and act as a back-up facilitator
- Manage a caseload including regular re-assessments, updating risk levels and caseload reviews
- Participate in regular staff meetings and care planning to provide expertise for client care within a multi-disciplinary team
- Refer and link clients to community resources and groups that support recovery goals
- Work collaboratively with other Counsellors to support organizational needs (e.g., volumes across all regions) covered by CMHA PD
- Update all appropriate documentation within 24 hours of client contact, as required by CMHA PD policy and procedure
- Work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and ensure a stepped care approach is achieved
- Participate in the Counselling Community of Practice and other agency and community committees and workgroups as requested by manager

**What you need to join our team**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in relevant discipline (e.g., BSW, MSW, OT, RN)
- Must be registered in the province of Ontario as a member in good standing with an appropriate regulatory college (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Registered Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist)
- Minimum 2 years counselling experience in the mental health and addictions sector with a focus on assessment, brief interventions and short term supports
- Expertise in community mental health and/or community based human services
- The following experience/trainings are an asset with an expectation to attend trainings as they become available: Single Session, Brief Intervention, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Skills, Trauma Informed Care, Virtual Care, Interprofessional Multidisciplinary Team and Cris
