**Position Summary**:
The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Outreach and Copyright Librarian. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, you'll advance our mission to support learning, teaching, and research. You will be promoting Library collections and services, coordinating copyright education and compliance, planning and delivering instruction, and providing reference services.

As our Outreach and Copyright Librarian, you'll develop innovative outreach initiatives to raise awareness of resources available through the library. Collaborating with departments across the institution, you'll develop strategies to effectively promote library services and collections to students, faculty, and justice and public safety professionals. You will craft engaging promotional materials, online guides, and tutorials, and contribute to website content. Additionally, you'll educate our community about copyright, delivering educational sessions to faculty and staff, and guiding them through copyright clearance processes for third-party materials used in JIBC courses.

In addition to outreach and copyright, you'll deliver engaging library instruction sessions tailored to student and faculty needs. Working closely with faculty, you'll ensure students receive comprehensive instruction in information literacy, including research skills modules and workshops on APA Style.

Providing expert reference services will also be a cornerstone of your role. You'll assist students, faculty, and staff with inquiries, utilizing online databases and tools to conduct literature searches. Your support will extend to helping students find material for papers and presentations, offering guidance on APA citations, and alerting faculty to current research trends.

As one of three liaison librarians, you will coordinate access to Library services for students, faculty and staff in the School of Criminal Justice and Security. You will collaborate with faculty to ensure excellent instruction and reference services for this School.

Beyond your core responsibilities, you'll collaborate with the Director of Library Services on matters involving library policy and future plans. Special projects may arise, providing opportunities for professional growth and development. Engaging in continuous professional development activities, such as attending conferences and networking events, will be essential for staying abreast of developments in the field.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:
**Academic**:
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA accredited school.

**Other Knowledge/Training**:
Knowledge:

- Excellent knowledge and understanding of information literacy goals, trends and developments.
- Knowledge of adult education principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of educational technology as it applies to libraries, such as the BlackBoard LMS.
- Broad knowledge of print and electronic resources for a wide variety of disciplines
- In-depth knowledge of APA citation style.
- Familiarity with SpringShare products e.g. LibGuides.

- Ability to establish relationships with faculty in order to promote the Library.

- Ability to plan, design, and deliver instruction, face to face and online.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian copyright law and practices in relation to education, and ability to keep up to date with changes to these laws.
