**Responsible to**: Executive Chef
**SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE**
Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.
**MAIN DUTIES**
**1.** Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
**2.** Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
**3.** Date all food containers and rotate as per hotel standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
**4.** Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
**5.** Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
**6.** Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per hotel standards.
**7.** Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
**8.** Ensure rotation of stock and the storage of all food items in accordance with health & safety regulations and company policy.
**9.** Assist as requested with the receiving/putting away of food items.
**10.** Carry out opening and closing duties applicable to the position and be competent in the completion of all duties within the shift.
**11.** Ensure all kitchen equipment/surfaces including knives are used/cleaned correctly and defective equipment being immediately reported as per property policy.
**12.** Assist with kitchen steward/wash up duties as delegated to maintain the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen.
**13.** Be competent in the safe and efficient use of equipment in line with laid down procedure.
**14.** Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
**15.** Perform any other job related duties as assigned
**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co
- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Finger/hand dexterity in order to operate food machinery. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. on a continuous schedule.
**GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES**

10. To contribute to energy conservation and ensure safe usage/storage of all materials/equipment/chemicals as per manufacturers’ instructions.
11. To attend meetings as requested and to recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation.
12. To assist with cleaning duties in order to maintain a clean and well-organized work area in line with property policy.
13. To adhere to the Property Crisis Communication Plan to ensurethat inquiries from the media are responded to by the nominated spokesperson in line with company policy.
14. To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-worker safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys/cash as appropriate to the position following procedures laid down by company policy.
**Salary**: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
