- North Vancouver**What you’ll do**
- Motion Picture Production is seeking an instructor for an intensive four-weeks of applied training for students in Lighting for Digital Imaging and Film. Upon completion, the student will be capable of working safely and competently in an entry-level position of a lighting department in the mainstream and independent film/media production industries. The course of instruction places a special emphasis on safety and appropriate conduct in the professional production environment. The safe use of standard and advanced equipment for lighting and management of the electrical systems that power them will be taught along with an overview of aesthetics of lighting for dramatic and other media productions. The instructor will create a safe, respectful, interactive learning environment for the students to practice skills that conform to recognized industry standards.
- Duties include:
- Overseeing the course from release to delivery
- Observing safety protocols (including the health and safety protocols established by CapU and WorkSafeBC)
- Maintenance of the eLearn site
- Coordinating assignments and ensuring that faculty evaluate student’s work and submit grades
- Ensuring that all MOPA/BOSA protocols are followed
- Liaising with admin staff and studio techs to ensure that room booking, gear load-outs and load-ins are scheduled
- Ensuring that all final marks are loaded onto eLearn and onto the year-end CRN.

**What you’ll bring**
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s is preferred OR Equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.
- 10 years of specializing in lighting for the film industry as a Gaffer/Head of Lighting Department is preferred.
- Should have Full Entertainment Certification (FE) for film industry lighting and power, as a Field Safety Representative.
- Current certification in Fall Restraint and Mechanical Lifts.
- Membership in IATSE or equivalent labour organization is not required but an asset.
