**Course Title and Code**:CHM136H1F: Introductory Organic Chemistry I

**Course description**: An introduction to principles of structure and their relation to reactivity of organic molecules: molecular structure, stereochemistry, functional groups, reactions, and mechanisms. Recommended for students in life and health science programs that involve a small amount of chemistry.

**Estimated TA support**:720 hours

**Estimated course enrolment**: 256

**Class schedule**: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (2:00 - 5:00 pm)

**Sessional dates of appointment**: May 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023 (**0.50** FCE)

**Salary**:
Sessional Lecturer I = **$9,457.90**; Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term = **$9,182.42**; Sessional Lecturer II = **$9,826.96**; Sessional Lecturer III = **$10,060.92, **inclusive of vacation pay or possibly higher commensurate with experience.

**Minimum Qualifications**: A Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field is required. Experience lecturing and/or coordinating laboratories in organic chemistry at the university level will be preferred.

**Description of duties**: The Department of Chemistry requires a sessional lecturer to coordinate in-person laboratories in CHM136H1 (Introductory Organic Chemistry I) during the 2023 Summer session. The successful applicant will be responsible for effectively coordinating in-person labs with all of the attendant organizational issues of laboratory preparation and delivery, supervising of lab demonstrators, invigilating and marking tests and exams, course evaluations, and holding office hours. Note that it may be necessary to revert to online delivery of laboratory content if such guidance is provided by the Faculty of Arts & Science.
