Position Title: Summer Youth Program Leader

Summer Youth Program Leader - 35 hours per week Full Time position. This is an on-site position. This position will fall under the collective agreement between the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of Unions (CSSBA) and Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA). The position will fall under the conditions of employment as a member of the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU).

**Overview**: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations.

**Job Summary**:The Summer Youth Program Leader is a full-time position for 35 hours/week. This position will be delivering engaging activities for youth (aged 10-18) to help keep them happy and healthy throughout the camp days. Applicants must be available for full-time work for the period of June 24th to August 23rd.

**The key responsibilities for this role include**:
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Promotes, facilitates, and evaluates developmentally appropriate programs for participants that provide opportunities for physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skill development
- Co-creates and maintains a strengths-based, inclusive, respectful, engaging, youth-centred program.
- Works collaboratively as part of the Settlement Team, Youth Programs Team, and with other Kiwassa programs and community partners.
- Establishes trusting relationships with participants and families
- Supports and guides participants in their journey towards growth and discovery using an asset-based approach with developing their personal strengths
- Room set-up and food preparation
- Completes administrative tasks such as attendance, report writing, and file maintenance
- Supports participant intakes, provides one-on-one support as needed, facilitates community connections, and referrals to settlement/community services for newcomer youth.
- Monitors progress and needs of youth in consultation with supervisor.

**Reporting Relationships**

This position reports to the Childcare and Youth Manager, in consultation with the Youth Settlement worker.

**Qualifications**:
To meet granting requirements through Canada Summer Jobs, applicants must be under the age of 30, must be legally entitled to work according to BC regulations, and must have Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Training and Experience
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Criminal Record Check

**Salary**: JJEP Grid Level 9, Step 1: $25.55/per hour
