Position Title: Summer Day Camp Leader

Summer Youth Program Day Camp Leader - 35 hours per week Full Time position. This is an On-Site position. This position will fall under the collective agreement between the Community Social Services Bargaining Association of Unions (CSSBA) and Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA). The position will fall under the conditions of employment as a member of the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU).

**Overview**: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House grows a welcoming and inclusive community in the vibrant Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods of East Vancouver, Located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səlílw̓ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh), and xʷməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam) Nations.

**Job Summary**:The Summer Youth Program Day Camp Leader is a full-time position for 35 hours/week. This position will be delivering engaging activities for children (aged 5-10) to help keep them happy and healthy thoughout the camp days. Applicants must be available for full-time work for the period of June 24th to August 23rd.

**The key responsibilities for this role include**:
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Promote, facilitate, and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs for participants that provide opportunities for physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skill development
- Maintain a healthy, inclusive, respectful, and safe program environment
- Effectively manage a variety of individual and group behaviours
- Establish collaborative relationships with teammates, participants, and families
- Support each participant in discovering and developing their personal strengths
- Complete administrative tasks such as attendance, report writing, and file maintenance

**Reporting Relationships**

This position reports to the Summer Program Lead. This position has no direct staff reports but supervises volunteers and students regularly.

**Qualifications**:
To meet granting requirements through Canada Summer Jobs, applicants must be under the age of 30, must be legally entitled to work according to BC regulations, and must have Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Training and Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience with:

- Supporting children or youth in an inclusive, inner city, multicultural setting
- Program planning and delivery
- Group management
- At least 1 year of education/training in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Recreational Programming, Youth Counseling, Psychology, Child Development or a related field. Additional years of education/training considered an asset
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Current First Aid & CPR certificiation
- Criminal Record Check
- Class 4 Drivers License an asset

**Salary**: JJEP Grid Level 9, Step 1: $25.55/per hour
