The Wellness Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager, Leadership, Organizational Development and Wellness, is responsible to coordinate, create and execute, innovative wellness strategies that support a corporate culture of healthcare worker wellness, mental health promotion and a psychologically healthy work environment. Responsible for developing and implementing creative strategies and initiatives to promote health and wellness for St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and ensure its ongoing and effective administration. Successfully, develops SJHH’s Wellness Program and ensures its ongoing viability with the goal of enhancing staff health and well-being while improving the overall health of the workplace.

This includes determining the service delivery model, the administrative infrastructure required (e.g. back office functions including web sign up, instructor certification and WSIB documentation, resources required, establishing co-op partnerships with academic institutions in the community that have degree or diploma Health or Wellness Programs), the communication strategy (e.g., marketing through intranet, posters, etc., and Champion/Committee support) and tracking and reporting on the success of the program.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Recreation or Health related field e.g. Recreation, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy etc. or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Masters Degree preferred.
- Certification in Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion required
- Must have prior academic knowledge of Wellness Program design, promotion and administration
- Mindfulness training/course credits is preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications required
- Johnny G or Schwinn spin certification is required
- Member in good standing with i.e. Yoga Alliance, CanFitPro Fitness Instructor Specialist
- At least 3 year of prior experience in developing and implementing Wellness Programs within a unionized environment including administration through student placement is required. Prior experience developing, instructing and delivering fitness classes preferred
- Excellent organizational and administration skills
- Solid business skills to coordinate the funding model and monitor the registration process and invoicing process.
- Excellent computer, written and communication skills.
- Familiar working and collaborating with individuals within a hospital environment.
- Maintain staff and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, volunteers and others within our health care community.
- Able to prioritize, manage multiple demands and complete tasks on time.
- Able to communicate, collaborate, engage, and effectively and efficiently educate multiple stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office including MS Word for proposals and reports, Excel for developing schedules and tracking documents, maintaining spreadsheets of costs and payments, developing registration forms etc. Power Point for developing presentations,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, but also works well within a team/collaborative environment.
- Preferred but not mandatory: Knowledge with online design tools for marketing, promotion materials (e.g., Piktochart, Canva, Constant Contact)
