**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Reporting to the Program Manager, Waste Operations and Optimization, is responsible for researching, developing, implementing, coordinating and monitoring waste management facilities, procedures, programs and services for the Region and on behalf of it’s local municipalities in the residential, industrial, commercial and institutional sectors; designing and analyzing internal environmental audits and resulting data; ensuring facility operating contractor performance; maintaining and administering the Solid Waste Management Environmental Management System; tracking inventories and conducting site inspections; and developing and reviewing operating procedures, tender documents and reports for the Program Manager.

**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING**
- Oversees and monitors the operation of waste management facilities and programs including conducting inspections to ensure successful program delivery, as well as ensure they are being operated in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract and applicable legislation.
- Develops and maintains project work plans, budgets, timelines, objectives, records and statistics to monitor and evaluate program performance; to determine if modifications are required for financial, safety, environmental and operational performance; to resolve problems or discrepancies; and to ensure project, contract and regulatory compliance.
- Represents the Region on issues involving coordination of activities at the household hazardous waste depots, public drop-off facilities, and waste processing and transfer operations.
- Provides direction to contractors for waste management processing and transfer facilities, relating to the collection and disposal of the material including the scheduling of loads.
- Oversees hazardous waste shipments by contractor, ensuring proper completion of Hazardous Waste Product (HWP) Registry manifest and compliance with regulatory and legislative obligations.
- Oversees and coordinates all site-related data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyzes statistical quantity (from site records and Region’s weigh scale software) and cost data for existing facilities and programs in order to measure performance, ensure expenditures are within allocated budgets, as well as identify trends, risks and opportunities.
