We are seeking a dedicated **Accounts Payable Clerk** to join our financial operations team. As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate payment of suppliers, adhering to university policies and government regulations.
**What You’ll Do**:
- **Accounts Payable Processing**:
- Accurately set up and maintain vendor accounts within the university accounting system and the international payments portal.
- Reviewing and processing invoices by matching them to purchase orders, by direct entering, by ordering bank drafts, or by international wires, while ensuring compliance with tax regulations, university policies and other government rules.
- Manage internal and external accounts payable communications and inquiries efficiently, with a focus on providing helpful information and training.
- **Research Expenditure Compliance**:
- Carry out audit functions to ensure research expenses comply with Federal Granting Agency rules and regulations.
- Communicate with researchers to resolve non-compliant transactions.
- **Administrative and Support Functions**
- Cover the duties of the Miscellaneous Disbursements clerk as required, including opening and delivering office mail, reviewing and entering expense claims, responding to PCard questions, and processing manual cheques.
- Create and enter journal entry adjustments as required to maintain accurate financial and tax records.
- Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems to ensure document accuracy and accessibility.
- Order and maintain inventory of supplies and stationary for the office

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to the Position**:
- Grade 12, supplemented by completion of a recognized 2-year business course with a focus on accounting
- Minimum of three years, including time in an accounts payable or similar financial role.
**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role**:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Banner, FAST systems, and general accounting software.
- Understanding of GST, PST, and HST tax regulations, as well as knowledge of various Tri-Agency research spending rules (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR).
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, excellent communication skills, and capability to work under pressure.
Physical Demands Pay Grade CUPE Phase 4 Salary Range $43,388.80 - $58,604.00 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours
8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
