**Your Mission**

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation and profit and loss reporting. They will oversee all accounting activities related to income auditing, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable collection, tax compliance and payroll. This role includes, at the present time, all accounting functions (e.g. preparation and posting of all transactions, management of payables and receivables, reconciliations of general ledger accounts and credit cards, preparation of financial reports, etc).

The role supports the Director of Finance who, as a member of Senior Management, is responsible for reporting the company’s financial status and direction to the Board of Directors and program expenditures to all funding partners (e.g. OMAFRA, Fed Dev, FCC). You will assist with Financial Management activities, reporting requirements to our funding organizations and partners and liaising with those organizations in a highly proactive manner.

**Responsibilities**

**Accounting and Finance**
- Oversee all accounting, bookkeeping, payroll
- Maintain accounting for all contractual arrangements for funders and partners
- Complete HST returns filings
- As part of the Senior Management team provide accounting and finance oversight to all departments
- Track time allocations per project for reporting purposes
- Maintain General Ledger accounts, including journal entries in the QuickBooks database
- Maintain and reconcile monthly Accounts Payable and Receivable sub-ledgers
- Process payments using cheques and direct payment methods
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis using outsourced ADP service
- Process deposits and cheques from all activities
- Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Process journal entries for all receipts, payments, and other financial transactions
- File source documents for all transactions including vendor payments, bank deposits, and journal entry support documents and maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial records
- Support database initiatives through data reconciliation and input
- Perform other duties as required
- Assist with the preparation of financial claims
- Manage a junior accounting associate (To be hired)

**Support the Director of Finance as listed below**:
**Financial Management**
- Budgeting, cash flow management - continuous management and oversight
- Regular budget reviews with the CEO and department managers
- Periodic financials for the finance committee and directors
- Annual and periodic interaction with external auditors
- Work closely with business development and program management to ensure the financial viability of future proposals and projects

**Reporting to Bioenterprise funders and partners including**:

- Quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting to multiple government funders
- Accurate and timely claims preparation and submission to government funders
- Reporting includes activity-based, results-based and financial

**Communications and Liaison with funders and partners**
- Negotiate, along with the CEO the details of the contribution agreements
- Administer and manage all contribution agreements, including amendments thereto
- Main point of contact with government project managers for funded contribution agreements

**Skills & Experience Required**
- A Chartered Professional Accountant designation and knowledge of financial/business management and control methods, accounting principles and financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks Desktop
- Ability to mentor, coach and develop junior staff
- Strong Financial acumen and analytical agility

**Salary**: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
