**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Director of the Jordan’s Principle Capacity Enhancement Centre, the incumbent will assist in developing a research program to support the implementation of Jordan’s Principle. This entails conducting research, analysing policy issues, and providing strategic recommendations. Working closely with other members of the Jordan’s Principle Implementation Team, the position will identify changes or improvements aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements to aid in aligning and conceptualizing research for the regional implementation of Jordan’s Principle.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop a regional First Nation program of research for the implementation of Jordan’s Principle.
- Conduct research on relevant policy issues, legislative proposals, and regulatory frameworks.
- Analyze data, reports, and literature to inform policy development and decision-making.
- Prepare comprehensive research reports, briefing notes, and policy briefs.
- Monitor and track developments in government policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives.
- Assist in coordinating consultations, workshops, and meetings with stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of policy recommendations and advocacy efforts.
- Facilitate the alignment and conceptualization of research to support the regional implementation of Jordan’s Principle and the First Nations Jordan’s Principle Equity Roundtable.
- Formulate policy options and recommendations for the reflection of AMC member First Nations.
- Environmental scanning and reports on regional and national issues and other processes relevant to policy implications for First Nations.
- Provide policy and strategy development support on all aspects of the implementation of Jordan’s Principle.
- Work with the various AMC networks with First Nations, First Nation organizations, non-government and government departments to access information and work together on a broad range of complex issues, which will impact on policy formulation and integration.
- Provide advice and support toward the evaluation of policy effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Preparation of timely briefing notes, speaking notes, research reports, discussion papers and position papers. Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education & Experience**
- Master of Social Science or a related discipline and/or a related equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Knowledge of statistical methods, techniques, and information to develop analytical frameworks and/or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of First Nations/Indigenous research methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of First Nations, culture, history, treaty, and inherent rights.
- Demonstrated ability to provide analytical support while managing multiple projects, and deadlines.
- Experience presenting to AMC member First Nations on reserve.
- Excellent verbal, written, inter-personal communication.
- Knowledge of one of the five AMC-member First Nation languages an asset.
- Ability to provide analytical supports while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Be able to follow office practices, procedures, and confidentiality.
- Work flexible hours and travel upon request.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
