**Position: Direct Support Staff Overnight Awake - Residential 11:00 pm to 7:00 am Sunday to Thursday**

**Reports to: Manager/Supervisor**

**Position Summary**: Under the guidance of the program Manager, the Residential Direct Support Staff is responsible to advocate and provide direct support for people in our care. These supports are based on the outcomes of person centred planning and according to choices and informed decisions and are within the scope of the Individual Support Plans (ISP). You will promote an inclusive lifestyle and support people in achieving their personal goals.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education and Training-**:

- Must be 18 years of age or older
- University Degree or DSW or college diploma in a related Human Services field or certification in a related Human Services field (ex. PSW certificate) with a minimum of 2000 hours experience, at Manager’s discretion
- Grade 12 or GED with a minimum of 4000 hours experience at Manager’s discretion
- Valid driver’s license and required insurance
- Able to obtain required training; including but not limited to; CPR, First Aid, NVCI, WHMIS, Violence in the Workplace, fire extinguisher, Bullying in the Workplace, Hand Hygiene, Donning and Doffing and all aspects of proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Attend Association Orientation
- Physically able to fulfill requirements of the job

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Under the supervision of the Manager of the residence, you will provide care and support to the individuals living in the home, during the overnights as required. There are expectations of cleaning, laundry and some meal preparations. You will foster the development of the residents to their fullest potential. You will ensure that the philosophy of socialization and inclusion is maintained and a level of independence, based on the person's ability, is encouraged. Must work within the culture of the home and demonstrate leadership qualities and respect, and demonstrate the ability to create a positive working environment, which is critical in providing the best supports possible to the people living in the home.
