The District of Squamish is seeking a permanent full-time Manager of Recreation and Culture to manage, coordinate and

oversee the day-to-day operations of the Recreation and Culture department. Under the general supervision and

direction of the Director of Recreation and Culture, this position plays a key leadership role within the department in the

delivery of high-quality programs and services through customer service, community engagement and effective resource

management.

experience working at a supervisory level. In addition, a Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and an original Police

employer will be required before starting in the position.

**GENERAL SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Culture, the Manager of Recreation and Culture is responsible for the

management, coordination, budget control, and staff supervision of the Recreation and Culture department. This

position plays a key leadership role within the department in the delivery of high-quality programs and services through

customer service, community engagement and effective resource management.

**Recreation and Culture Management**
- Contributes to the success of our team and creation of our thriving community, by fostering the District of Squamish

corporate values in their work: Respect, Integrity, Connection and Progress.
- Meets regularly and fosters positive community relations with user groups.
- Manages the programming operation of the facilities within budgets, policy guidelines and procedures.
- Undertakes long-term financial planning and prepares preliminary department budgets.
- Develops, monitors and evaluates work plans based on goals and objectives established for each area of service as

well as strategic plan priorities.
- Reviews and develops departmental policies and procedures.
- Approves all facility user groups schedules in relation to policy.

**Employee Development & Supervision**
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Recreation and Culture Department, and provides direct management

support to the Program Specialists, Customer Service Supervisor, and other employees as required.
