WHILE PERFORMING TESTS

1. Prepare test equipment, test samples, execute tests and prepare test reports related to

the biomechanics lab.

2. Test setup, documentation, system checks, calibration of the test instrumentation in the

biomechanics lab. Instrumentation includes, but not limited to, accelerometers, load

cells, strain gauges, velocity sensors, optical triggers, DAQ systems, amplifiers.

3. Setup, maintenance and operation of test equipment including, but not limited to, drop

towers, linear impactors, high speed video cameras, air cannon, stab tower,

compression frame, drone sled, helmet retention tester.

4. Prepare data collection, file storage, organization of file names and basic data

organization and analysis.

5. Able to follow industry and bespoke performance test standards and test methods.

6. Implementation of new sensors and/or setups, evaluation of their suitability and

incorporating into worksheets for subsequent analysis.

7. Develop workplans, experimental setups and test programs to satisfy R&D needs.

8. Root cause analysis of sensor artefacts and/or dynamic issues with test setups.

9. Identify systemic problems or non-compliance of lab procedures, electronics,

instrumentation and equipment. Make recommendations to resolve these with support

from engineering and management.

10. Able to work in a team environment and under repetitive conditions while being

compliant with health, safety and quality principles.

HOUSEKEEPING

1. Monitor, report and maintain inventory levels of instrumentation and equipment.

2. Maintain equipment, tools, fixtures, etc. to ensure operability and readiness.

3. Maintain calibration schedules and operation of instrumentation.

4. Management of inventory and calibration tracking software for instrumentation.

5. Maintain the test labs.

WHILE PLANNING TESTS AND EVALUATING RESULTS

1. Develop test workplans and test schedules.

2. Test sample receiving, logging, marking, conditioning, preparation, and shipping.

3. Identify and report any non-compliance, cares, or concerns.

FOR REPORTING

1. All test reporting of test data is to be complete and accurate according to the relevant

test methods and requirements.

2. Opinions and interpretations must be clear and concise and based on observations and

facts.

3. Lab test reports must be complete, free of typographical errors and ready for review by

the lab manager.

FOR DEVELOPING, MODIFYING AND VALIDATING NEW METHODS

1. To provide observations and recommendations to the lab manager when deficiencies

and non-compliance are noted.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to read and interpret technical instructions.

2. Ability to follow standard technical operating procedures and quality management

requirements.

3. Intermediate level for operation of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Access)

4. Minimum High School graduate (or equivalent) as well as a graduate of College or University

with Materials/Electrical Technologist or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering being the most

relevant.

5. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Use of manual hand tools, electric hand tools and soldering

irons is expected. Excellent eyesight with or without correction is required.

6. Attention to detail and the ability to complete daily work is required. The applicant should

possess the ability to change and adapt to any situation and be able to change their work focus

at any time.

7. Familiarization with precision measurement tools (verniers, calipers), instrumentation

(accelerometers, load cells, strain gauges, velocity sensors, optical triggers, DAQ systems,

amplifiers).
