**Government Relations Advisor**
We’re looking for a **Government Relations Advisor **to join our growing team
As a Government Relations Advisor you will support the development and execution of Intact Financial Corporation’s (IFC) government relations and public affairs strategy. This includes working with the Director of Government Relations and Senior Advisor, Government Relations to maintain and enhance the organization’s profile, reputation and influence across relevant federal and provincial governments, regulatory bodies, non-governmental organizations, and trade associations. Working within a large organization, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with key areas of the business such as Strategy, Climate, Social Impact/ESG, Communications, and more to ensure alignment on issues that impact IFC across all markets.
**What you’ll do here**:
- Support the development and implementation of IFC’s government relations strategy.
- Draft responses for ongoing and emerging issues, including targeted government relations and advocacy plans.
- Identify, analyze, and monitor relevant provincial and federal public policy, regulatory, legislative, and political issues and initiatives that impact our key markets.
- Conduct research and support the development of a range of strategic communications products in a variety of formats (i.e., speaking notes, briefing materials, presentations, reports, Q&As, backgrounders, etc.) working in conjunction with relevant business units.
- With guidance from the Director and support from the Senior Advisor, foster and maintain relationships with key government decision makers, policy makers and advisors as well as with non-governmental organizations, trade associations and other stakeholder groups.
- Monitor relevant trade associations and industry groups and contribute to the development of policy positions and joint advocacy as appropriate.
- Provide organizational support in the tracking of projects and coordination of meetings.
- Ensure governance and policies on lobbying registration, political donations and related ethical and regulatory matters are in place and monitored on a monthly or quarterly basis.
- Support team decision-making and the realization of priority projects.
**Qualifications**:
- University degree, at least 2-3 years public affairs and/or public policy experience or time within a federal, provincial, or municipal government, or trade association.
- Experience with issues affecting the financial services/insurance industry is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal systems of government.
- Experience executing on public affairs/government relations strategies.
- Well organized, can operate within tight deadlines and adapts easily to change.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- High degree of professionalism and ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
- Highly computer literate with strong command of MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Fluency in English and French preferred.
