**Accountability**

The Maintenance Utility Worker reports to the Supervisor Maintenance for direction and supervision.

**Purpose and Key Responsibilities**

The primary purpose of this position is: to deliver supplies/parts to maintenance staff who are engaged in maintenance and repair; to assist maintenance employees with their assigned tasks; and to maintain the exterior grounds for all projects. The key responsibilities are:

- Pick up and deliver supplies/parts to the maintenance employees.
- Ensure materials purchased match purchase orders.
- Snow removal.
- Take care of the grounds for some of the single dwellings, senior units, and vacant units.
- Lock changes.
- Cut grass and trim trees.
- Boarding of broken windows/doors.
- Repair/replace fences; paint fences.
- Tidy and organize the maintenance shop.
- Organize work activities and supervise general help.
- Service machines (lawnmower, snow blower, chainsaw, trimmers and shop vehicle).
- Participate in an emergency after work environment.
- Remove and install appliances.
- Janitorial duties and garbage pickup.
- Minor plumbing and electrical.
- Clean and repair eavestrough and downspouts, repair or replace facia/soffit, repair/tar vents.
- Paint basements.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability**
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Ability to repair minor defects in equipment.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Promote and ensure a positive professional image is maintained.
- Demonstrate initiative, reliability, flexibility, good judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision, or as part of a team.
- Recognition of and respect for people's diversity and individual differences.
- Neat personal appearance.
- Bondable.
- Valid driver's license.
- Assist with annual inspections.
- Must have Fall arrest training, WHIMIS, First aid and chainsaw course or be willing to obtain.

appliances, etc.)
