The Opportunity
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as a Transit Utility Worker.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Garage/Shop, this position will be responsible for safely and properly performing a variety of manual tasks related to the cleaning and maintenance of the transit vehicles, garage, equipment, and service vehicles.
**The key responsibilities will include**:
- Maintaining the repair garage, storage area, service lines, maintenance areas including shoveling snow, cutting grass and changing signs.
- Assisting in maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment in support of garage operations.
- Cleaning and servicing shop tools and equipment.
- Responsible for the interior cleaning of buses.
- Performing minor maintenance checks on various service vehicles and maintenance
Equipment.
- Performing general shop and building maintenance tasks including sweeping, painting,
washing floors, cleaning hoists, pits, oil barrels, hoses, dispensers, work benches and
returns tools/equipment to the storeroom.
The individual we seek can work well within a team environment and must have the ability to work independently
**Qualifications**:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Class 3.0 Alberta Drivers License with Q (Air) Endorsement with less than six (6) demerits.
- A current Standard First Aid certification
- Some experience in a related field including light building and basic vehicle maintenance
- Must have the ability read, write, speak, and understand English including some basis mathematical skills
Hours of Work
Permanent full-time.
Shift work may be required.
Compensation
$29.67 per hour. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package.
This position is represented by the CUPE Local 941 Collective Agreement.
