Foreperson Tooling Build Department

**PURPOSE and SCOPE**:
Manage, plan and execute the activities of the Tool Build Shop to ensure timely and cost effective tools are built to meet the needs of the company.
**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position**:
- To coach and grow team members in Tool Build department
- To continuously innovate, improve and manage the department's processes
- Assess and prioritize tool request submissions and allocate labour and material.
- Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet required dates for product releases, and production requirements.
- Communicate to Production Leadership on requirements and commitments.
- Take an active role in tool design, build and commissioning.
- Innovate and improve company tools to improve manufacturability and user experience.
- Maintain area using lean techniques such as 5S, TPM and Visual Standards.
- Perform screening of TRs and work-order completions to ensure proper closure.
- Ensure complete documentation of tools in JDE and other systems.
- Ensure department follows MacDon safety systems and procedures.
- Plan manpower schedules.
- Participate in the internal hiring process. Approves performance reviews. Ensures alignment of skills and development plan(s) for individual employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**
- Relevant post secondary education.
- Five years of experience in a similar role or previous experience in a Supervisory role in a Manufacturing environment.
- Green Belt certification an asset. Knowledge of Lean tools, problem solving, facilitation
**Skills and Knowledge**
- Strong knowledge of safety requirements.
- Previous experience working with a Collective Agreement an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
