**Position Overview**:
We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about Health and Safety legislation and who can work independently to build and maintain appropriate programs, policies and documentation.

**Duties are assigned as needed and may include**:

- Implement and maintain Occupational Health and Safety policies, establish standard operation procedures, ensure compliance with legislation and company policy, create awareness around Occupational Health and Safety
- Work with the Training Department to create and facilitate Occupational Health and Safety training for employees/managers, manage the training database and monitor renewal dates for certifications, prepare and update training manuals and ensure new employees receive complete training
- Identify risk factors associated with the various roles and work with supervisors/managers to develop strategies to minimize those risks
- Act as a point of contact and resource for Occupational Health and Safety matters
- Advise supervisors/management on Occupational Health and Safety matters, provide coaching to deal with specific employee issues
- Coordinate inspections and investigations, ensuring all documentation is complete
- Coordinate and participate in Occupational Health and Safety meetings as the meeting chair
- Manage Ministry of Labour programs
- All other duties as assigned

- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.1 would be an asset
- General knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, R.S.O 1990 or willingness to learn
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred
- Must be willing and able to travel
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours if required
- Ability to speak Ojibway, Cree or Oji-Cree an asset
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and/or a Vulnerable Sector Check at time of hire
- Understanding of the collective culture of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation and the traditional values of family and communities
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written and personal time management
- Be a responsible person of good character, able to maintain confidentiality, professional integrity and be a positive role model
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Computer experience is an asset
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to follow through on assigned duties independently
- On the job training will be provided
