**Position Summary**
The Associate Dean plays a vital role in supporting the academic and administrative functions of Canadian College of Technology and Business (CCTB). The role holder works closely with the Executive Dean of the institution to provide strategic leadership, manage academic programs, and ensure the smooth operation of the department or college. The Associate Dean is responsible for overseeing faculty development, student success, curriculum development, partnership relationship, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
**Responsibilities**
- **
Academic Leadership**: Collaborate with the Executive Dean to establish and implement the academic vision, goals, and strategic plans of the institution. Provide leadership in curriculum development, assessment, and program review processes.
- ** Faculty Development**: Support the professional growth and development of faculty members. Oversee recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of faculty. Promote innovative teaching practices, mentorship, and research activities.
- ** Student Success**: Develop and implement strategies to enhance student success, retention, and graduation rates. Collaborate with Student Success advisors, student support services, and faculty to address student needs and ensure a positive learning experience.
- ** Curriculum Development**: Work closely with Academic Directors to design and update course portfolios that aligns with industry standards, accreditation requirements, and emerging trends. Ensure academic programs meet the needs of students and maintain relevance.
- ** Budget and Resource Management**: Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets. Allocate resources effectively to support faculty, staff, and student needs.
- **Policy Development**: Collaborate with the Executive Dean, Executive Director of QA and Compliance and other stakeholders to develop and implement academic policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- ** Accreditation and Assessment**: Facilitate the accreditation process and ensure compliance with accreditation standards. Coordinate assessment activities to measure program effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
- ** External Relations**: Foster relationships with partner college, industry partners, and community stakeholders to promote collaboration, internships, and employment opportunities for students.
- ** Diversity and Inclusion**: Promote and support a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Advocate for equity, access, and cultural competence among faculty, staff, and students.
Position Requirements
- ** Education**: A master's degree with significant experience in higher education at the public college level required.
- ** Experience**: Several years of experience in academic administration, faculty leadership, or a related field. Familiarity with curriculum development, faculty development, and student success initiatives.
- ** Technical knowledge**: An intermediate-level grasp of a wide array of information technology domains, demonstrating technical proficiency across diverse areas such as software development, network administration, cybersecurity, data science, IT management, and emerging technologies. While expertise in each domain is not mandatory, a comprehensive understanding is essential.
- ** Leadership Skills**: Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to provide strategic direction, inspire collaboration, and foster a positive work environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change.
- ** Communication Skills**: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- ** Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify challenges, propose solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
- ** Organizational Skills**: Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- ** Knowledge of Higher Education**: Comprehensive understanding of higher education policies, practices, and trends. Familiarity with accreditation processes and academic governance.
