**Major Duties Include**
- Preparation of new-area FTTH design drawings and packages
- Draft municipal consent civil drawings; illustrate proposed routing in relation to existing underground (micro-trench/nano-trench/directional bore) and aerial facilities. Create applicable cross-sections and details. Select cable/duct route that will most likely pass permit approval; both aerial and underground scenarios, and weighing scenarios through make-ready and costing analysis exercises
- Prepare fibre splicing documentation/packages specific to client requirements and specifications
- Develop project-specific construction notes, material requirements and identify associated labour tasks
- Meeting with clients to discuss project scope and strategies
- Input project as-built information into GIS system; update maps and databases
- Be aware and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related company policy

**Qualifications**
- 3+ years of experience in a comparable position
- Experience as an outside-plant FTTH designer is preferred
- Preferred Post-secondary education/training either in Civil, Architectural, Electrical, or Telecommunications Engineering
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; particularly with Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written
- Able to clearly communicate with internal and external project teams
- Detail-oriented with solid problem solving and analytical skills
- Multi-tasking ability; adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently; monitors own quality of work

**Preferred Skills and Knowledge**
- Outside plant design and drafting; HFC and FTTH, fibre optic technology
- Professional AutoCAD experience
- GIS software experience
- Experience with aerial and underground permitting, procedures, and processes; identifying critical pass/fail locations, and route selection, utility standards
- Quality control
- Ability to interpret technical material and plans
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical power, power distribution, power protection, and applicable code and industry practices
- General understanding of broadband, telecom, cable and internet is an asset
