CBC is currently seeking a Producer, Social Media to work on the editorial team for CBC Books and its portfolio of projects.

CBC Books connects Canadians with books, encouraging a shared love of reading and writing through CBCBooks.ca, _Canada Reads_, the CBC Literary Prizes and audio programming.

Reporting to the Senior Producer, this role is for an experienced digital and video content creator who lives and breathes social media and is on the cutting edge of research, innovation and trends in this field. You love to share your book recommendations with others and participate in communities such as BookTok.

Working as part of the CBC Books team, the Producer will be responsible for producing and packaging timely, engaging and shareable social posts and videos connected to the programming on CBC Books. You will be responsible for conceiving, pitching and creating original social media content that expands the reach of CBC Books. Vertical video will be a key component of this job.

You will manage CBC Books’ social media channels and communities. You will manage the editorial calendar for social media, under the guidance of the Senior Producer, so it aligns with CBC Books’ other platforms and priorities. You are mindful of ensuring that the content on our channels reflects and appeals to many different kinds of readers and the communities they represent.

You are a talented storyteller with a track record of making dynamic and engaging social media content on a variety of platforms, including vertical video, photos, live coverage and graphics. You are comfortable with a variety of social media platforms and with discovering and learning about new platforms as they emerge and adapting as social media trends change.

CBC Books is a multi-platform, collaborative environment, one where producers are encouraged to follow their curiosity and learn on the job. While this position will primarily focus on social media and social video, there will be opportunities to contribute to digital and audio programming as well.

Key tasks
- Under the direction of the Senior Producer:_- Manages CBC Books social media channels- Conceives, records, edits and delivers vertical video for all platforms- Conceives, develops and organizes ideas, treatments and timing for social content, in coordination with CBC Books digital + audio teams, including video, photos, graphics, live coverage and more- Analyses and learns from metrics and reports to enhance performance of content on social platforms- Stays informed of social media trends and best practices, especially in book-oriented communities and spaces- Collaborates on social media within CBC and with other partners in order to optimize audience reach- Proactively engages with the audience on social channels and responds to audience inquiries and complaints when warranted- Makes content decisions through a strategic lens to deliver on key priorities

Qualifications
- You possess the following:_- Three years' social media experience, including specific responsibilities around managing social platforms professionally- Demonstrated superior video editing and photo editing skills, with experience in Photoshop and Adobe Premiere- Demonstrated superior writing, editorial and social media packaging skills- Working knowledge of the Canadian publishing industry- Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with connections to diverse communities- Understanding of stats and analytics pl
