Programs include arts and culture, aquatics, recreation, education, sports, fitness, daycare, day camp, and more. For over 100 years, JCCs have been serving Jewish communities around the world. There are over 300 JCCs globally and 150 in North America. 1.5 million people enter a JCC each week in North America.

The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp is the largest Jewish day camp in Canada and has been a core business of the JCCs for 35 years. Operating with locations at both the Schwartz Reisman Centre & Prosserman JCC, the Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp engages over 1000 campers and 200 staff in a life changing summer experience that is built upon a foundation of leadership, innovative programming, community engagement and a deep connection to Jewish identity. The camp is a significant onramp to the JCCs for many families and provides a significant opportunity for them to deepen their connection to the Jewish community.

Reporting to the VP of JCC Programs, the Camp Director will manage all aspects of the camp’s operations as well as seasonal staff development and retention. The Camp Director is an inspiring leader and has a passion for community building.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Strategic Leadership**
- Develop and implement a plan for the growth and development of a multi-campus camping program aligning to the greater mission and vision of the JCC.
- Work closely with the senior team at the JCC to ensure that camp is a key component of the JCCs community engagement strategy, strengthening the connection between camp families and the JCC 12 months a year.
- Identify and anticipate trends in the camping, Jewish identity building and youth development and incorporate them into the camps programs and culture
- Set short
- and long-term goals for program innovation, staff development and increased community impact
- Lead initiatives to enhance the camp’s reputation as a premier destination for both campers and staff ensuring high standards of quality and a deep connection to community
- Seek opportunities to leverage other JCCs business units to elevate the overall quality of the experience while optimizing operational efficiencies for the JCC.

**Business & Operations**
- Develop and manage annual budget and long-range financial forecasting
- Manage business operations including partnerships, rentals, facility requirements, etc.
- Ensure compliance with camping standards as well as Health and Safety requirements

**Community Engagement**
- Work with the VP of Marketing to create and execute an effective marketing and outreach strategies to attract new campers/staff and retain current ones, focusing on growing enrollment year over year
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, emphasizing personalized communication and engagement throughout the year.
- Conduct post camp evaluations and feedback sessions to identify areas of improvement for increased retention
- Collaborate with other departments at the JCC to deepen the connection of camper families to the JCC and the community and to increase touchpoints, membership acquisition and retention

**Programming**
- Ensure program quality and industry standards are met and consistently strengthened
- Expand program offerings by seeking new opportunities for campers and staff
- Manage classic and specialty camp programs including Hebrew Camp, the Leadership Program and Sports Camp
- Ensure the mission of The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp is always at the centre of summer programming

**Staffing**
- Provide leadership, mentorship and performance evaluations to support the development of our fulltime camp staff team to ensure we deliver a premium camp experience on both campuses.
- Ensure the high-level recruitment, hiring, training and management of 200+ seasonal camp staff.

**What you do well**
- You are a strong Strategic thinker with experience providing strategic direction in a camp setting with a minimum five (5) years' experience running a camp of the same size, plus at least 5 years managing / supervising staff with a demonstrated ability to lead and engage employees (or equivalent combination of work experience and education).
- Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is an asset.
- You have an exceptional financial and business acumen, including analytics and have successfully managed a budget of $2 million or more.
