Quality Manager

Overview:

**Responsibilities**:
**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Ensure Compliance to current required Food Packaging Standard.
- BRC and HACCP Coordinator
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Adhere to safety rules and procedures
- Takes assignment from Plant Manager and Regional Quality Manager
- Ensure Quality System compliance
- Drive continuous Quality Improvement
- Ensure adequacy in the quality programs, sampling and inspection methods
- Act as an SPC resource to production and quality personnel regarding in-process inspection and identification of variation
- Complete quality product checks on a timed interval basis. For identified quality issues seek assistance from mechanics, maintenance or tooling.
- Develop, document, validate and improve quality test and inspection procedures and practices. Select and obtain appropriate devices, instrumentation and equipment when needed
- Ensure adequacy and use of sampling plans
- Use established quality systems to review process and product to identify, monitor and control variation
- Participate with production in complaint investigation regarding cause, and ensure corrections are implemented and maintained.

- Must be able to lead continuous improvement teams
- Perform trend analysis and generate action plans to drive results
- Must have strong leadership qualities
- Must have solid knowledge of statistics and general quality tools
- Manage 24/7 operation with multiple shifts
- Other duties as assigned
- Responsible for compliance with all aspects of GMP, food safety and quality initiatives.

**Product Safety**

To ensure product safety, this position will:

- Adhere to Pactiv’s GMP requirements
- Frequently inspect the production area and identify product and/or situations that risk product contamination and prevent them
- Frequently inspect the production area identify product and/or situations that violate cleaning and pest control requirements
- Make sure that maintenance activity does risk product safety. Report maintenance cleaning activity violations to their direct manager
- Make certain that employees follow procedures, work instructions, etc. to produce quality and safe product; report violations to the quality manager.
- Make certain that no glass is brought into the facility
- Not use Pactiv containers for storing miscellaneous items
- Practice good hygiene and not eat, drink (water in plastic bottles is allowed) or use tobacco except in designated areas
- Act as an BRC resource by informing, training and practicing product safety.
- Develop and implement improvement when deficiencies are found.

**Qualification/Special Knowledge/Skills**:

- BS/BA degree in an engineering, science or business related discipline.
- 3-5 years as a quality control leader or engineer are required.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and statistical software; some programming experience preferred
- Must have solid knowledge of statistics and general quality tools including knowledge of SPC and quality systems.
- Superior mathematical and statistical ability.
- Knowledge of manufacturing lab practices and test procedures.
- Experience in the plastics industry is a plus.
- Must possess excellent leadership qualities, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
