The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) that is committed to ensuring every Indigenous child in BC has access to spiritually enriching, culturally based, high quality early learning and childcare services.

**About the Position**

The **IELCC Communications Associate** will play a vital role in assisting the communication department in supporting external communication efforts to position BCACCS as a strategic leader in IELCC. This position reports to the Communications Specialist and provides support to the _IELCC Transformation Initiative _team. The IELCC Communications Associate has an integral role in supporting the communications goals of the overall organization.

**Responsibilities and Deliverables**
- Content Creation: Develop high-quality content, including visual design, infographics, info sheets, brochures, presentations, community stories, articles, reports, website content, social media content, news releases, talking points, briefing notes, backgrounders, etc.
- Copywriting: Write copy for various communication materials. Produce clear, concise, and engaging written content tailored to specific audiences. Translate complex technical language into simple, easy-to-understand terms.
- Proofreading: Carefully review all content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Design: Create designs for digital and print materials. Maintain visual identity and branding materials and ensure compliance with policies.
- Editing: Ensure all documents follow brand guidelines and are formatted correctly.
- Measure and report on the results of communication efforts.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

Training, Education, and Experience
- A post-secondary degree or diploma with a focus in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven experience in content creation, copywriting, editing, and design.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to explain complex ideas and information in an interesting and straightforward way.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of Indigenous and world views, perspectives, and cultures.
- Ability to edit and design high-quality digital and print materials using Adobe Suite.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage confidential and/or sensitive issues in a professional manner.

**Conditions**

**Salary range**:Annual salary of $54,600 - $63,700, commensurate with qualifications and experience. There is also an extended health plan and a pension plan available after a three-month probationary period.
