**Course number and title**:INI106H1F: Writing Literary Journalism: Telling the Stories of the City

**Course description**: In this introduction to literary journalism, you’ll study the craft of storytelling along with interviewing, reporting, and the journalist’s ethical stance. Guest speakers, field trips, writing activities, and course readings will help you engage deeply with your environment and develop the skills and sensitivity required for literary reporting.

**Class schedule**:Fridays 1:00pm - 4:00pm

**Salary**:

- Sessional Lecturer 1 - $9,457.90
- Sessional Lecturer 1 Long Term - $9,930.79
- Sessional Lecturer 2 - $10,121.77
- Sessional Lecturer 2 Long Term - $10,326.62
- Sessional Lecturer 3 - $10,362.76
- Sessional Lecturer 3 Long Term - $10,570.02

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum qualifications**:

- MA in journalism or related field
- Industry experience as a working journalist or editor with an emphasis on literary journalism
- At least 3 years of experience teaching at the university level
- At least 3 years of experience marking undergraduate writing

**Preferred qualifications**:

- PhD in related field
- Demonstrated interest in pedagogy
- Familiarity with the range of writing ability of undergraduates
