This role is responsible for providing a complete range of payroll and benefit services for the Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors.

**This position is accountable for**:

- all payroll for SLFD advisors;
- monitoring and investigating the collection of the advisor debt balances;
- managing benefits plan for SLFD advisors; and
- ensuring people, processes, best practices, and contractual and business rules work in unison to deliver exceptional service.

In this role, you will have up to 10 direct reports. You will work very closely with the other team leaders and managers within Distribution Compensation Services on delivering outstanding service to our advisors.

In this role, you will have considerable interaction with Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors; the district offices; the Regional Vice Presidents; Legal; Compliance; Group Benefits and other teams within Distribution Compensation Services.

**What will you do?**
- Develop, coach and lead payroll team with commissions and bonuses for advisors as required;
- Develop, coach and lead benefits team for SLFD Advisors;
- Respond to payroll related inquiries from advisors, as well as other individuals and teams within head office, including external business partners;
- reviewing service standard and workflow management reports, initiating process improvements where necessary;
- Supporting team with tax deductions for the Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors and remittance of tax installments to CRA;
- enhancing and following through on audits and controls for payroll processes; and guidance and decisions on complex and exception situations.
- Leverage technology to improve the team’s performance
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, distribution partners and colleagues

**What you need to succeed?**
- Experience in managing a production-oriented teams
- Superior leadership skills, ability to create win/win solutions with business partners and facilitate cross-departmental teamwork that meets the needs of the business strategy
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proficient in managing service levels and SLA’s within an operation
- Strong and proficient knowledge of Excel and analytical and problem-solving skills
- Energetic, enthusiastic and have the ability to interact professionally with people at all levels of the company.
- A positive attitude with a commitment to high quality service
- Proficient organization and time-management skills, ability to establish priorities and multi-task
- Proficient conflict resolution skills
- An ability to build context by pushing beyond "how things are done" to understand "why"
- An ability to think outside of the box to come up with creative and new solutions
- Strong influencing skills that allow you to drive for change and execute ideas through to completion

- Bilingual
- Knowledge of Sun Life individual and wealth administration systems
- Proficient knowledge of Sun Life’s retail products
- Knowledge of Group Benefits plans
- Sound knowledge of project management techniques, tools and methodologies is an asset
