Four (4) permanent positions are available and are effective immediately and are due to vacancies.

One (1) temporary position is effective immediately and will end on or about September 29, 2023 and is due to a vacancy.

One (1) temporary position is effective immediately and will end on or about December 21, 2023 and is due to a vacancy.

One (1) temporary position is effective immediately and will end on or about March 29, 2024 and is due to a vacancy.

One (1) temporary position is effective immediately and will end on or about May 24, 2024 and is due to a vacancy.

In

compliance with Board policies and procedures, this position is

responsible for all caretaking and maintenance functions of an assigned

high school and family of elementary schools to provide a healthy and

safe learning and working environment for students, staff and the

public.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To supervise the caretaking staff in all board sites.

To

ensure the logs of the day to day operations, boiler conditions, chiller

conditions, air handling units, snow removal, fire safety, mechanical

checks, energy consumption readings, theatre operations and security

system coding are maintained for their assigned group of schools.

To ensure regular inspections of mechanical and electrical systems are carried out for their assigned group of schools.

To ensure repairs or replacement of equipment are initiated when required for their assigned group of schools.

To assist in the hiring, training and evaluation of performance of caretaking staff.

To perform and ensure routine repair and maintenance work is carried out for their assigned group of schools.

To

maintain an adequate inventory of caretaking supplies and equipment for

an assigned group of schools including tracking and maintaining the

inventory and budget.

To

assist Plant Services by providing on-site supervision of contractors to

ensure that the contractors comply with Board policies and procedures

and contract specifications.

To

to, applicable legislative regulations, Board policies and procedures,

and Plant Services protocols.

Ensure

the adherence of Health and Safety legislation and regulations,

including participating in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and

site H&S inspections.

To

repair furniture and equipment as required and/or relocate them within

the school(s) to accommodate assemblies, commencements, permits,

renovations, etc.

To participate in a 24 hour 7 day rotational on-call schedule responding to emergency situations across the region.

To supervise the use of schools after hours based on authorized permits.

To perform other duties as assigned.

**LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY**:
Responsible to the Assistant Manager, Operations.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
A

two-year college diploma in building & environmental systems or a

related discipline or 4th class stationary engineer certificate is

required or equivalent, as approved by the Board.

Minimum seven years progressive caretaking or related experience is required.

Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills are required.

Ability

to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups and a good

understanding of the Health & Safety Act, GHS, and first aid

training is required.

Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
