GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Technical Writer.

As the Technical Writer at GTI, you will play an important part in delivering high quality content to our external customers and internal teams, while paying close attention to detail. Working in collaboration with the Major Programs team, Engineers and Manufacturing, you will have the ability to quickly understand complex topics and deliver them in an easy-to-understand way, and contribute to the user success and understanding of our products.

**Responsibilities**
- Determine the needs of end users and audiences to develop easy-to-understand technical documentations while using the most appropriate medium of document delivery and messaging.
- Take complex information and translate it into clear, understandable terms to people with diverse professional backgrounds.
- Develop and manage all user documentation, including user manuals, installation manuals, troubleshooting guides, and quick start guides.
- Build and maintain system documentation, including product requirements, design and architecture, product road maps, and test plans.
- Collaborate with our Engineering, Manufacturing and Software teams to gain a deep understanding of our products while staying current on document changes and requirements.
- Work alongside technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
- Optimize the use of photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation and charts to increase users’ understanding
- Standardize content across platforms and media
- Continuously improve documentation language and usability based on feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers.
- Identify improvement opportunities and revise documents when new issues arise
- Comply with, support, and contribute to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Arts or Journalism studies or a diploma in technical writing or content development.
- Minimum 3 years’ of professional experience in technical writing, including user specifications, manuals, journals, grant proposals, and other supporting technical documentation.
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in or understanding of sonar operation, acoustics analysis and/or mixed signal electronics is considered an asset.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong time management skills.
- Strong research, investigation, and personal observation skills.

**Security Requirements**

Canadian Government Security Clearances.
