**Duties**:
The position entail working on wildlife health research and policy issues. Topics to be addressed include a range of issues such as the impacts of Avian Influenza on wild birds, conservation of bats given the impacts of White-Nose Syndrome, monitoring SARS-CoV-2 in wildlife, bison health, health of amphibians and reptiles, cumulative impacts of disease and contaminants. Activities to be implemented include: research and analysis related to wildlife management and health, communicating wildlife health and conservation issues to a range of audiences, building partnerships for wildlife health and conservation with partners and stakeholders, supporting meetings including the preparation of minutes, and providing briefings.
**Work environment**:
The student will work with researchers, policy developers and briefing units addressing issues related to wildlife health in Canada. Interactions are expected to take place with One Health partners including Federal, Provincial and Territorial governments, academics and others who are working in the field of wildlife health. The research and policy program developed will support high priority programs of the federal government including One Health programs on emerging pathogens.
