**THE POSITION**
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all logistics operations within their designated region, ensuring the efficient movement of goods while maintaining compliance with company policies and government regulations. This role involves managing logistics staff, optimizing transportation routes, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Key duties include supervising daily logistics activities, training personnel, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The Logistics Manager will also handle import and export requirements, mitigate transit delays, and ensure adherence to regional regulatory requirements. Close collaboration with various teams is essential to streamline processes and achieve optimal logistics performance.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise Logistics Operations_
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the logistics team, including the shipping, receiving, warehousing, and distribution of goods and materials internationally.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of orders, deliveries, and inventory management in compliance with company policies and regional regulations.
- Coordinate Shipment and Delivery_
- Plan and coordinate the transportation of goods from suppliers to the facility and from the facility to customers or distribution centres.
- Track shipments and deliveries, ensuring on-time delivery of goods while mitigating transit delays.
- Inventory Management_
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock of materials and finished products, avoiding stockouts and overstocking.
- Collaborate with production and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels and streamline logistics support for operations.
- Process Optimization_
- Analyze logistics processes to identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost reductions, implementing best practices in warehousing, shipping, and distribution.
- Drive lean logistics strategies to enhance overall process flow and reduce costs.
- Vender and Supplier Management_
- Collaborate with suppliers, transportation providers, and third-party logistics companies to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods and materials.
- Negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and monitor supplier performance to maintain high service levels and reliability.
- Safety and Compliance_
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with company policies, safety regulations, and regional legal requirements, including environmental and hazardous materials guidelines.
- Lead compliance with cross border customs in coordination with freight and logistics partners. Responsible for declaration/transactions with Canada Customs and Border security.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement training program to promote a safe working environment for the logistics team.
- Team Leadership and Training_
- Lead, mentor, and train logistics personnel to ensure efficient team performance and professional growth.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback to enhance productivity, service quality, and team development.
- Coordinate Cross-Departmentally_
- Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to understand logistics requirements and adjust operations accordingly.
- Facilitate effective cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment on scheduling, deliveries, and inventory management.
- Data Analysis and Reporting_
- Track key logistics metrics such as delivery times, inventory accuracy, and transportation costs to monitor performance.
- Generate reports on logistics performance, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements.
- Problem-Solving_
- Address and resolve issues related to shipping delays, inventory discrepancies, or logístical bottlenecks, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Budget Management_
- Assist in managing the logistics department’s budget, controlling transportation, warehousing, and inventory management costs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses while maintaining high service levels.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, with focus on logistics management.
