Operations Risk and Controls Analyst

**The Opportunity**
As an **Operations Risk and Controls Analyst **you will be responsible for **Risk and Control Functions **supporting **North America Retirement Operations **with a focus on **external audits **. You will be a highly motivated, self-driven, and a passionate professional who has experience in risk management and controls.
**Responsibilities**
- Track existing and proposed controls and ownership by updating Archer risk management platform.
- Meet with operational teams to understand current controls, gaps and discuss potential improvements with leader.
- Work with auditors and regulatory examiners to understand the scope of testing required and its impact on the business; identify any opportunities to streamline the testing approach and reduce business effort.
- Co-ordinate walkthrough meetings with EY and PwC.
- Co-ordinate or collect and review evidence required for walkthroughs and detail testing for SOX and SOC/3416.
- Identify and escalate any scope, schedule, cost, or quality issues to the Manager.
- Co-ordinate completion and distribution of SOC/3416 reports.
- Assist Operations with timely closure of corrective action plans.
- Work closely with Internal Audit, external auditors, and other risk professionals.
Develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to help develop a thorough understanding of the Business's risk profile and core processes and controls.

Manulife applies a three line of defense model in the management of risks. Representing Ops, this individual will report to the **Manager, Risk and Controls Governance **, forming part of the first line of defense and will play a key role in early identification and mitigation of risk.

**What we are looking for**
- Good understanding of Control Frameworks and methodologies.
- Ability to allocate time efficiently; handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
- Ability to gather information systematically; uses accurate logic in analysis.
- Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written communication, strong presentation skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly in using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving, organizing, planning and analytical skills.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Flexible and adaptable when dealing with change.
- Works well independently or in team basis.
- Communicates clearly with all onshore and offshore support Decision Authorities.
- Knowledge of US Retirement processes and systems an asset. CPA designation or working towards designation is an asset.
