**POSITION OVERVIEW**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure the company is following applicable H&S requirements from agencies which include WorkSafeBC, WCA, OHSR, and Public Health Agency of Canada
- Influence and encourage the adoption of safe work practices and procedures and drive the company safety culture
- Work collaboratively with departments to identify/assess risks, promote compliance and responsible behaviors as required by company policies, relevant H&S standards, codes, regulations and best practices
- Develop and revise H&S related SOPs, policies, practices and procedures
- Develop, conduct, and/or source H&S related training which include H&S orientation, COVID-19 briefing, JHSC training, Respectful Workplace policy training, etc..
- Participate/lead incident investigations, recommend corrective actions, and submit all relevant WorkSafeBC reports in a timely manner
- Manage and update all H&S documentation and programs
- Perform relevant data analysis to determine the effectiveness of current practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Act as a key contact for external parties regarding claims, audits, compliance requirements
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of company emergency response plans
- Collect and analyze safety data including training, WorkSafeBC statistics, workplace incidents, etc.
- Stay current with development and changes regarding COVID-19. Update safety measures, policies and procedures as necessary
- Lead and participate in H&S related meetings
- Develop and conduct the H&S audit program
- Perform other duties as required.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- A diploma, certificate or degree in Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Industrial Hygiene or Industrial Sciences
- Minimum 3 years of OH&S experience
- Knowledge of the Worker’s Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC OH&S Regulations and Claims Management
- Experience developing and implementing H&S policies, procedures and practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships with all levels across the organization
- Energetic, self-motivated and presents H&S in a positive and practical manner
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of the Canadian Biosafety Standards is an asset
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Valid OFA Level 1. Possession of a valid OFA Level 2 is an asset.
