In this role, you will support Oakville Public Library’s mandate to Inspire Oakville through technology.

**What you'll do**
**As a Technology Technician you will**:

- Monitor and provide updates for staff created technology help desk tickets, action, and/or route issues for resolution.
- Documentation and creation of Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to relevant hardware and software.
- Instruct staff in the use of consumer devices and software.
- Work in partnership with Town of Oakville IT to ensure the library technology tickets are solved and help with troubleshooting, testing and library staff interaction as needed.
- Actively identify and analyze technology help desk tickets trends by capturing historical information through a problem tracking system to resolve ongoing problems.
- Communicate technology problems and issues to management, library technology team end-users
- Leverage vendor support for technical training, content and escalation of issues ensuring timely resolution
- Participate in special projects as assigned, utilizing project management methodology and best practices
- Make recommendations to improve technological services
- Assist in achieving business plan objectives
- Participate on internal teams and committees

- Be a change agent by effectively translating and supporting change to OPL staff
- Demonstrate strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

- Deliver excellent service to customers of all ages by adhering to the library’s customers service pledge and being in compliance with AODA’s Customers Service Standard
- Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Prioritize multiple tasks, complete work and follow up on outstanding items in a timely manner
- Be detail-oriented and accurate

**Your experience and educational background**:

- A college diploma/degree in Information technology or a related field with at least 1 year of experience supporting technology software and hardware.
- Previous experience working in an IT related function in a public library would be an asset.
- A+ (Hardware Maintenance) Certification would be an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Work might require after hours and weekend support for emergencies related to the OPL supported assets._
