**Substance Use and Concurrent Disorder Specialist**
- **Youth Support Worker; Bargaining Unit position**_

Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre with a range of services and programs for youth and families across Toronto. These services are client-centered and flexible, geared for youth and families with a range of mental health needs who may have difficulty accessing traditional office-based services.

**Youth Justice Mental Health ACCESS Program at CTYS**

Primary Responsibilities:

- Provide assessment and brief service intervention with youth
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with a harm reduction lens and within an anti
- oppression, anti-racism and equity framework
- Provide flexible outreach services to ensure accessibility for youth and families
- Provide support, referrals, education and resource navigation
- Develop and implement individual and group workshops on substance use, mental health and wellness for youth in closed custody facilities
- Co-facilitate clinical conversations for open custody/ detention facilities and other programs using a trauma informed lens to help stakeholders understand the connection between mental health and substance use, the behaviours of youth in this context and to inform plans to best support youth in these facilities
- Provide ongoing consultation for Youth Justice Workers on substance use and concurrent disorders
- Participate in team clinical consultations, team meetings and supervision meetings
- Maintain all records and reports in accordance with CTYS policies and procedures, legislation and accreditation standards
- Participate in agency committees, special events or community activities when determined appropriate in consultation with the Program Manager
- Participate in yearly service planning and program development meeting, as requested

- Ensure that all reporting and documentation meets requirements and are completed in a timely manner
- Participate in supervision, program meetings, all-staff meetings, clinical consultations, peer consultations, committee/partnership meetings and professional development, as required

Qualifications:

- An MSW or equivalent education and experience preferred
- Addiction Studies Certificate is an asset
- Membership (or eligibility) in the appropriate professional regulatory body
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth and addictions
- Demonstrated experience working with youth in the area of harm reduction
- Experience working with concurrent disorders
- Experience facilitating youth groups is an asset
- Experience working with youth involved with the youth justice system
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the youth justice system and collateral service providers
- Experience in strength based mental health assessments, brief intervention modalities, CBT & Motivational Interviewing
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with marginalized youth
- Practice from an Anti-Oppression and Evidence Informed Framework
- Knowledge of program development and evaluation is an asset
- French language proficiency is an asset
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle required
- Experience supporting virtual services is an asset
- Proficient in the use of computers and familiarity with client data base software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proof of full Covid-19 vaccinations (2 doses) required
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Check required
