The Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research & Treatment (CIPSRT) is looking for a talented and experienced individual to join our Knowledge Exchange Hub team as a Knowledge Translator. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate knowledge translation to support CIPSRT’s mission of helping current and former public safety personnel, their leaders, and their families to maintain and improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Key areas of responsibility for this position include the synthesis of evidence-informed research; translation of research in order to reach stakeholders through varied media; exchange and mobilization of research to stakeholders; and data collection and analysis of key metrics of the Hub’s knowledge translation efforts.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position works closely with the Social Media & Web Communications Specialist, and the Community Engagement & Events Coordinator to:

- Develop content and knowledge ‘products’ to support information sharing;
- Design and implement evaluation activities;
- Coordinate the development of strategic annual goals, objectives and plans;
- Coordinate engagement with public safety personnel;
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse audiences, including mental health researchers and public safety personnel across Canada.

Position Requirements

This position requires:

- Completion of a graduate degree and four to six years of related experience, or
- Completion of an undergraduate degree and six to eight years of related experience, or
- Completion of a recognized diploma from a college or technical institute with additional specialized training and six to eight years of related experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Demonstrated Knowledge of and Experience with:

- Research practices and collaboration styles, including knowledge of how research questions are determined, and how research is conducted;
- Interviewing techniques, including researching and preparing interview questions, active listening, relationship building, and processing complex ideas;
- Navigating research policies and procedures, relevant Canadian federal government regulations, and/or Tri-Council funding guidelines
- Editorial processes and Canadian Press writing style, as well as best practices in internal and external communications / public relations, media, social media, and marketing;
- Leading knowledge exchange projects and managing project scope in consultation with leadership;
- Preparing and delivering presentations, in person or remotely;
- Preparing regular reporting, analysing reports, compiling data and providing recommendations as needed; and
- Maintaining databases and update web content.
- Comprehensive knowledge of research and methodologies, quality improvement and program / project evaluation principles and metrics, implementation science, ethics, regulations and practice.
- Synthesizing and translating complex scientific research into clear, concise, accurate and compelling communications, retaining nuanced significance
- Creating knowledge translation ‘products’ that meaningfully engage broad-based audiences that are local, regional and national;
- Writing professionally for a variety of communication channels and audiences, including general, academic, web, media/social media, donors, students, and funding agencies;
- Thrive in a fast-paced work environment, effectively managing multiple and competing priorities;
- Plan, schedule and coordinate events, such as webinars, forums and other knowledge dissemination opportunities;
- Exercise sound judgement when making decisions about the messaging of knowledge translation initiatives;
- Establish and maintain effective and collaborative professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, contributing to a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal);
- Proficiency in utilizing survey software (such as Qualtrics);
- Advanced analytic, problem solving and organizational skills, with the ability to understand scientific research as well as diverse sector needs;
- Superior attention to detail.

Considered assets for this position are:

- Education, training or experience in fields related to public safety, mental health, and/or knowledge translation.
- Experience gained in public or non-profit sectors, particularly in unionized and/or research environments;
- Proficiency in French and English-to-French translation

Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $61,375 - $82,823 Annually Status Term Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm.
