Youth & Justice Services Unit

**YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER Ref. #: 2024-12**
Part-time, Temporary, Hourly
- one year contract
Hours of Work: 3:00pm - 10:30pm on a scheduled rotation. Minimum of 26 hours per week, with additional hours for team meetings and other duties as assigned.
Union House provides a safe and nurturing living environment, along with life skills coaching and supportive counselling for at risk youth. Offering innovative, strength-based programming, employees work alongside residents as they develop their skills and grow towards a successful transition to independence.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as a primary worker for a designated number of residents
- Provide supportive counselling and life skills coaching to youth within an out of home care setting
- Function as a team member in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized program plans
- Plan and implement group life skills sessions
- Facilitate the admission and departure of residents
- Consult and coordinate service with community partners
- Initiate and participate in community outings and recreational activities with youth.
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant community college diploma or degree in social services
- Minimum of one year experience working with youth in an out of home care setting
- Demonstrated understanding of risk management
- Proven leadership skills & experience working with placement students and/or volunteers
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to perform duties both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Office 365
- Criminal & Judicial Matters and Vulnerable Sector Checks; Children’s Aid Society Declaration & Release
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence, $2 million vehicle liability insurance, clear Driver Abstract and use of a vehicle.
