**Summer Art Collective Assistant**
**Location**: Edmonton, AB
**Position Status**:Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Student (May-August)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop a catalogue of artists for commission.
- Assist with workshops and events.
- Provide information at events promoting the Métis Artist Collective.
- Provide support to daily operations of the Métis Artists Collective.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence in relation to the operations of the Collective.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with administration of MNA Provincial events & programs.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
**Skills & Competencies**
We are looking for motivated, confident individuals who are passionate about community work and Métis art. Commitment to teamwork is required in dealing with colleagues in everyday working environment. Other skills/competencies include:
- Knowledge around Indigenous Arts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
- Ability to produce professional reports, documents, and presentations.
- Political and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Arts, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Theatre Arts, Music, or related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of retail experience.
- Experience with event planning and/or workshops is an asset. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license.
