**About Us**:
The Land Use Secretariat (LUS) supports Albertans by leading the development, review and implementation of integrated land use plans, regional plans and land stewardship tools under the _Alberta Land Stewardship Act_ (ALSA), to manage our province's land and natural resources to achieve Alberta’s long-term economic, environmental and social goals as well as ensure that legislative requirements are met.

The Integrated Resource Management System (IRMS) Secretariat supports Alberta’s approach to integrated resource management. The IRM system delivers responsible resource stewardship by identifying and coordinating work to provide the environmental, economic and social outcomes expected from resource development. Key participants in the system include the departments of Agriculture and Irrigation, Energy, Environment and Protected Areas, Forestry Parks and Tourism and Indigenous Relations as well as the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) with other departments involved as required. The IRMS Secretariat is accountable to a committee of Deputy Ministers and the Chief Executive Officer of these organizations and also supports integration through cross-ministry tables at the ADM and Executive Director levels across ministries.

The Land Use Secretariat and IRMS Secretariat Branch is seeking an engaging, collaborative and team-oriented individual who has knowledge and experience fostering relationships and engaging a diverse range of parties to support the work of these two cross-ministry secretariats.

Reporting to the Director of Governance and Reporting as a resource to both secretariats, the Project and Portfolio Manager is responsible for overall portfolio management; identification, coordination and alignment of priorities and issues; identification of gaps and issues; and providing a comprehensive picture of IRMS and LUS on an ongoing basis.

**Responsibilities**:

- Developing and maintaining coherent and relevant portfolio plans for IRMS and LUS that provide an ongoing assessment of the work, projects, direction, resource estimations and allocations as well as decisions
- Managing projects on behalf of the Secretariats in conjunction with cross-ministry executives and staff as needed
- Providing regular comprehensive situation reports for both IRMS and LUS to the Branch Management Team, Assistant Deputy Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Ministers to provide clear understanding of progress in implementing the work of both secretariats
- Consulting and working with internal cross-ministry and external partners and stakeholders to gather relevant progress update information
- Identifying and implementing appropriate portfolio and project management tools and methodologies to support the secretariats including management of deliverables of contractors retained to coordinate development of regional plans and implementation of the Land Use Framework
- Monitoring status, identifying issues and gaps associated with multiple initiatives within the portfolios and providing timely analysis, advice and support on how best to resolve or mitigate to the Executive Director, Stewardship Commissioner and other senior staff in the Secretariats as appropriate
- Developing, implementing and enhancing appropriate information management systems and other branch systems as well as processes to support effective operations particularly given the integration of the two Secretariats
- Leading annual branch business planning and branch input into division and department business planning to ensure alignment.
- Reviewing and providing input into business planning across IRM organizations annually to promote alignment and identify areas for increased integration and coordination
- Providing strategic advice and support to the Secretariats in other business areas such as change management, design and system management

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary degree in business, political science, communications, natural resource management, or other related field
- Project Management certification
- 4 years of progressively related experience in project portfolio management

**Equivalencies**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
